During pre-surgical evaluations on Sunday, Katherin Perez sits on the lap of her father, Carlos, while Speech Language Pathologist Katherine Marting demonstrates proper placement of tongue and lips to produce speech sounds.
On Tuesday morning, Katherin would undergo a frenuloplasty to release her tongue-tie and a BMT (bilateral myringotomy and placement of tubes) to drain her ears. Of course, this isn’t Katherin’s first rodeo. In 2011, she underwent cleft lip surgery at the Moore Pediatric Surgery Center. She returned the following year for cleft palate surgery.
