Creating Smiles, Improving Lives

Day 1

By Suzanne Chandler. Today October 13th, 2018 begins the 8h trip of Austin Smiles Medical mission of creating smiles and improving lives. The Austin Plastic Surgeon Foundation will assess 100 or so children with cleft lip/palate and craniofacial anomalies and will provide approximately 60 surgeries this week. We have about  21 licensed medical professionals and 9 non-licensed volunteers that make up this team. The team includes board certified plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists, speech pathologist,  surgical nurses, recovery nurses, surgical technologist and of course photographers, bloggers and logistic volunteers who volunteer their time generously for this exceptional mission. Each volunteer raises a sponsorship fee to cover their expenses. Thanks to all who have donated to this mission! We have arrived at our destination! Stay tuned.
