Ana Gabriela serves as President of Fundación Hospitales MAC. Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo León, she holds a degree in International Business from Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master’s degree in Family Sciences from Universidad Anáhuac. With a professional background spanning organizations such as FEMSA and Tecnológico de Monterrey, she has developed expertise in corporate social responsibility, sustainability, international business, and corporate communications. She has presented nationally and internationally, including at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20), and has lived in seven countries while becoming fluent in five languages. As President of Fundación Hospitales MAC, she leads innovative healthcare initiatives that address critical health needs across Mexico, establishing national programs in cleft lip and palate, kidney transplantation, congenital heart disease, scoliosis, and cataracts, which together provide more than 500 free or low-cost surgeries each year.

Mtra. Nora Enzastiga Acosta

General Director of Centro SUMA

Ms. Nora Enzastiga Acosta is the General Director of Centro SUMA. She holds a degree in Social Work from UNAM and a Master’s degree in Administration from La Salle University. With more than 25 years of experience at the Private Assistance Board of Mexico City, she specializes in strengthening social service organizations. In her current role, she leads Centro SUMA, ensuring quality, sustainability, and regulatory compliance to benefit patients and their families.

Dr. José Maya Behar

Associate & Volunteer Surgeon of Centro SUMA

Dr. José Maya Behar is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon who graduated from UNAM, with specialized training in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery at Hospital General de México. He holds official board certifications and has served in distinguished roles at institutions including Hospital ABC and Hospital Infantil de Tacubaya. His career is marked by a strong commitment to providing charitable care for patients with cleft lip and palate, serving as former coordinator of the ABC Medical Center Cleft Lip and Palate Clinic, as well as a founding member and volunteer physician with Centro SUMA. He is widely recognized for his professionalism, ethics, and dedication to service.

Dr. Rodrigo Morales

Associate, Board Member, Medical Director & Volunteer Surgeon of Centro SUMA

Dr. Rodrigo Morales de la Cerda is a board-certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who earned his medical degree from Universidad La Salle, completed his specialty training in Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and pursued advanced subspecialty training in Cleft Lip and Palate Surgery at the University of Miami. With more than 15 years of experience providing pro bono surgical care for patients with cleft lip and palate, Dr. Morales has dedicated his career to advancing comprehensive cleft care. He has been an invited speaker at national and international conferences, authored numerous scientific publications in specialty journals and textbooks, and has served as an international instructor in advanced surgical training programs. Dr. Morales is a founding member and currently serves as Medical Director of Centro SUMA, where he also serves on the Board of Directors and volunteers as a cleft surgeon. His work is driven by a commitment to clinical excellence, surgical education, and expanding access to high-quality reconstructive care for patients and families affected by cleft conditions.

Dra. Alejandra Nava Tapia

Volunteer Specialist Physician of Centro SUMA

Dr. Alejandra Nava Tapia is a board-certified Medical Geneticist who completed her specialty training at Hospital Infantil de México Federico Gómez, followed by advanced subspecialty training in Perinatal Genetics. She has clinical experience in reproductive medicine, maternal-fetal medicine, and pharmaceutical Medical Affairs, providing a broad perspective on the diagnosis and management of congenital conditions. Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Dr. Nava serves as a volunteer Genetics Specialist at Centro SUMA, where she contributes to the multidisciplinary care of patients with congenital anomalies. Her work integrates clinical genetics, collaborative patient care, and a commitment to advancing outcomes for individuals and families affected by congenital conditions.

Dr. Carolyn Biebas

Anesthesiologist & Volunteer of Austin Smiles

Dr. Carolyn Biebas is a board-certified anesthesiologist based in Austin, Texas, with more than 40 years of experience providing compassionate, patient-centered care. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine and serves patients at several hospitals throughout Central Texas. A longtime volunteer with Austin Smiles, Dr. Biebas has dedicated her expertise to numerous international medical missions, helping provide safe anesthesia care to children undergoing life-changing cleft lip and palate surgeries. Her commitment to service and global health has helped transform the lives of hundreds of children and families across Latin America.

JC.M.F. Raymundo Ramírez Lugo

Maxillofacial Surgeon & Volunteer of Centro SUMA

Dr. Raymundo Ramírez Lugo is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon with more than 20 years of experience. He is currently a professor at UNAM, where he teaches Oral Surgery and participates in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program. He specializes in orthognathic surgery and serves as the lead for this area at UNAM. He is also the founder of the Comprehensive Care Clinic for Cleft Palate. He has published numerous articles in the field of maxillofacial surgery and is the owner of Clínica FACIAL LIFE in Mexico City. He is a member of the Mexican Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and part of the medical staff at Hospital Centro Médico ABC. His combined academic, clinical, and surgical work has established him as one of the leading specialists in his field in Mexico.

Mtra. Juanita Lizbeth Rocha, MPH

Director of Global Public Health of Austin Smiles

Juanita Lizbeth Rocha is the Director of Global Public Health at Austin Smiles, where she leads international programs that expand access to comprehensive cleft care across Latin America. She oversees global medical mission operations, patient coordination, strategic partnerships, volunteer engagement, and the organization’s Global Public Health Internship Program, working alongside healthcare providers, hospitals, universities, and nonprofit partners to strengthen sustainable models of care. Juanita earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health with a minor in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University and her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology, with a Certificate in Health Disparities, from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. During her graduate training, she contributed to the CDC’s Monkeypox Response, supporting case evaluation, clinical guidance, and public health recommendations. She also completed a post-graduate fellowship with the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), where she supported regional public health initiatives and strategic planning for noncommunicable disease prevention across the Americas. Beginning her journey with Austin Smiles as an intern, Juanita now leads multidisciplinary international initiatives focused on improving surgical access, strengthening local partnerships, and advancing equitable healthcare systems. As a first-generation American, she is passionate about health equity, cross-cultural collaboration, and creating sustainable solutions that improve access to specialized care for underserved communities worldwide.

Lic. Ellise Perry

Director of Programs & Comms. of Austin Smiles

Ellise Perry is the Programs & Communications Director at Austin Smiles, where she leads the organization’s local and international programming as well as all communications and marketing initiatives. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Texas at Austin and has been with Austin Smiles since her early involvement as a college student. She oversees program development, patient support initiatives, and mission coordination across Central Texas and abroad. Ellise also leads the organization’s communications strategy, including branding, storytelling, and stakeholder engagement. Drawing on both professional expertise and lived experience as someone born with a cleft condition, she plays a central role in advancing Austin Smiles’ peer-informed, holistic model of care for individuals with cleft lip and palate.
