Comprehensive Cleft Care Symposium
August 7th, 2026
Austin Smiles will host its first annual International Cleft Care Symposium on August 7, 2026, at MAC Hospital Santa Fe in Mexico City, with both in-person and virtual participation.
In partnership with SUMA Foundation and MAC Hospitales, Austin Smiles will conduct a medical mission from August 2–6, providing life-changing cleft surgery for children and adults. The mission will culminate in the symposium, focused on advanced surgical techniques and multidisciplinary cleft care. Renowned surgeons will present on innovative approaches, including bone grafting, and on long-term outcomes.

The Need for Comprehensive Cleft Care
One in seven hundred babies are born with cleft lip and/or cleft palate. Children born with this condition often face one or more health problems, such as failure to thrive, feeding & eating difficulties, speech & language development, breathing & hearing impairments.
Austin Smiles is a non-profit organization providing surgical and post-surgical care for children born with cleft lip and palate in Central Texas and Latin America.
1 in 700 children are born with a cleft lip or palate
$250 covers the cost of one life-changing surgery
150 volunteers annually will change a child’s life forever
