Outside the triage room on Tuesday morning, two-year-old William Jimenez shares a laugh with a fellow patient.

Dr. Zapata spoke to William’s father, Daniel, just prior to the boy’s palatoplasty in OR1 with Dr. Gorman.

“He’s a handsome little guy,” she said.

To which his dad responded, “I know, right?”
