Life-Saving Patient Monitor

Oct 14 to Oct 22 — We are getting closer to our Guatemala trip, only 56 days left! In preparation, we realized the need for six portable patient monitors.

This machine helps tell the anesthesiologist if a child is doing well while in surgery by monitoring their vital signs, really it’s life or death. We are looking to acquire six for present and future trips!

Each machine cost approx. $7,300. If you can help us raise the funds, purchase a machine, or connect us with community partners who can supply us with this vital equipment, we would love to feature you in our next newsletter, as our “Sculpture of Smiles” donor. Every donation is tax exempt. We hope to have the machines by September 30th to ensure they are part of our Guatemalan cargo!

Since our inception, #AustinSmiles' desire to help patients live healthier lives has not changed. Dr. James Cullington, founder and board member put it best, “Austin Smiles’ guiding principle has always been to offer services where needed regardless of any reward, and to treat all patients to the best of our capability regardless of ability to pay.” #CleftAwarenessMonth

#AustinSmiles not only helps children internationally, we also provide support to local cleft patients at Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. Each year we fund a holiday party, spring picnic, and invite patients to attend a weekend, overnight camp called Camp Amigo - bringing fun and fellowship to local patients and families making them #CleftStrong. #CleftAwarenessMonth ... Austin Smiles - The Austin Plastic Surgery Foundation with Angie Englert.

Each year #AustinSmiles does three mission trips in Latin America with each trip consisting of about 45 medical and non-medical volunteers. Each #volunteer takes time out of their busy schedules to go on our mission trips and raises a sponsorship fee. Therefore, we want to say #ThankYou to all of our wonderful volunteers who selflessly give their time to help these children live #CleftStrong healthy lives! #CleftAwarenessMonth
