Some of these kids smile a lot, and some are stoic. Despite every effort on the part of volunteers, three-year-old Maycol Catalan just would not break a smile. Here, even as he’s dressed and ready to go home after a successful palatoplasty and pharyngeal flap, Maycol stays true to his unyielding, tough-guy style.
